Indian Teenager with Rare ‘Werewolf Syndrome’ Breaks Guinness World Record for Hairiest Face
Lalit Patidar, an 18-year-old from Madhya Pradesh, India, has achieved a remarkable milestone by earning a Guinness World Record for having the world’s hairiest face on a male. With 95% of his face covered in thick hair, Lalit’s unique condition—known as hypertrichosis or “werewolf syndrome”—sets him apart as one of the rarest cases in the world.
A Rare Condition with a Unique Story
Hypertrichosis is an extremely rare genetic disorder that causes excessive hair growth in areas where hair is typically minimal or absent. Since the Middle Ages, only around 50 documented cases have been recorded worldwide. In Lalit’s case, his facial hair density was measured at an astonishing 201.72 hairs per square centimeter.
Despite the challenges that come with looking different, Lalit has embraced his condition and turned it into a story of self-acceptance and resilience. “I was born with a lot of hair on my face, and when I was young, my classmates were scared of me,” Lalit shared. “But as they got to know me, they realized I was just like them.”
Achieving a Guinness World Record
To officially secure his world record, Lalit traveled to Milan, Italy, where he appeared on the television show *Lo Show dei Record*. A professional trichologist conducted tests by shaving small patches of his face to determine hair density, ultimately confirming that he had the highest recorded level of facial hair growth. The recognition left Lalit overwhelmed with joy. “I’m speechless. I don’t know what to say because I’m extremely happy to receive this recognition,” he said.

While growing up, Lalit faced stares and curiosity from people who had never seen a condition like his before. But rather than letting it bring him down, he chose to educate others and embrace his appearance.
